Literacy

Lockers for Literacy
To promote youth literacy, Hawaii Self Storage established Lockers for Literacy, a program which donates reading books for each 1st grader in our local elementary schools. With every new locker rental, Hawaii Self Storage donates $2 from its profit to this fund. In partnership with READ TO ME INTERNATIONAL, our team members along with Mr. Safety read books and encourage students to read aloud everyday with their family.
If your school would like to participate please contact one of our locations for more information.
Mr. Safety Saves the Day
To commemorate Hawaii Self Storage’s 10 year anniversary, the company published their first reading book, Mr. Safety Saves the Day, written by Shaun Salvador (Vice President of Marketing and Sales). The storyline and book was created to introduce Mr. Safety to kids and illustrate what he does to help the community. In the book Mr. Safety helps the community come together and defeat the Clutter Monster that has taken over the neighborhood.
Book Drives
Hawaii Self Storage also encourages our customers to participate in our Lockers for Literacy campaign. Annual book drives are held at each facility and Hawaii Self Storage offers rental credit for donated books, puzzles, or games. By partnering together Lockers for Literacy has collected over 5,000 books, which has been donated to the Hawaii Literacy Bookmobile and other local libraries and elementary schools.
