Ho'omalu O Na Kamali'i

Ho'omalu o na Kamali'i tranlates to "safe haven for the children."  Mike Wood, owner of Hawaii Self Storage has donated 9.2 million for a new receiving home for children entering the welfare system on the leeward coast. Together with the Family Programs Hawaii, the Department of Human Services and other community groups. The home opened in Spring 2009.

The ten bedroom home will accommodate 14 children, ages 3-17 and provide 24/7 staffing, provide access to social workers and other health professionals. Most children will be able to remain in their home school while they are assessed and transitioned into safe and loving permanent homes.
